Another, much needed article Katie! “To become vulnerable.” … so right!!! My favourite quote is: “ It is only when I became vulnerable, did I truly become strong.” Keep writing Katie….. our world needs your wisdom and perspective.

Excellent article, Katie! I don't believe I've commented before, but ever since I subscribed (earlier this year), I've always enjoyed your work. It's thought-provoking and excellent. I like how you incorporate current events and societal issues into your work seamlessly. Your articles always get me thinking.

Today's article got me thinking about how important the seemingly 'little' moments (often "soft" moments) in life are as well as how important being vulnerable and emapthetic is. The beauty of nature. Hearing birds sing. The kindness of a stranger that gives a ray of light in a gloomy, difficult day. The moments you mentioned, like the photo of Jokic and Murray and the hug after a difficult loss. It takes a lot of strength to be vulnerable, to lower the walls and open up. Empathy and kindness are strengths as is compassion. Hope and joy are so invaluable too. All of these things are often seen as "soft" but, as you mentioned, they're beautiful.

"When we reject the rigidity of a binary to remain vulnerable without rushing to don the armour of extremes, delay falling neatly behind the fixed understanding of one-or-the-other, and lull in the rarity of a softer world, briefly opened up." I couldn't have said it better myself. You are spot on.

Sorry for the ramble. Your article really resonated with me. Keep up the great work :).
