Westbrook is deservedly a first ballot Hall of Famer who is either the greatest bad player or worst great player who's ever lived. He was always destined to be the superstar on teams that weren't quite good enough. To mimic the tone of this essay, I'd say that God injured Leonard and George to further Westbrook's legacy as the Lonely Daredevil. Yup, Russ is the unsolvable mystery who could've been 30% better if he'd ever developed a runner.
Even if I wasn't a to-the-ends-of-the-earth westbrook defender, i would recognize this as one of the greatest basketball essays of all time.
"But, my god, those people are just not my people. I think they are of defective character." A-fuckin'-men!
Also, overall, this is a fantastic piece of writing.
