I think we’re in a crisis of basketball media… this main character energy that I keep seeing across mainstream sports media where it’s no longer about accuracy, analysis, learning something — there’s either weird pick-me energy happening or you’re now the central character. This talking heads era is absent of any kind of empathy.
I met Dr. Courtney M. Cox at a party put on by the Dallas Wings during a Women’s Final Four, where women hired to dance as anthropomorphized disco balls stalked and strutted around the room. Knowing now what I do about Courtney and her ability to zero in on people’s labour, especially labour in the margins, it’s not a surprise we both shared a look of, “Are you seeing this?”
